Logo creation is something that is quite new to me. The logo of a company is crucial; it needs to represent the brand, be easily recognisable, high quality and unique.
Earlier this year, I began to help create the fundamentals for a start-up candle company called "Enchanting Crafts". Before the brand even started thinking about product ideas, they wanted to see logo concepts and designs.
There was a brief provided and a breakdown of the kind of elements the client wanted to see from the logo. This included the name of the company, a staple element that can be related back to the brand (i.e. 3 stripes - Adidas, Yellow "M" - McDonalds) and a subtle statement colour.
After discussing the brief, I created 3 different logos for them to evaluate.
The first logo is a simple choice, centred on the two crossing arrows. I also included the company name and initials as per the brief and chose this light pink/nude colour. I felt the colour was subtle enough so that it wouldn't steal the focus when printed onto labels or on social media content but, still very clear and could be reflected across their brand.
The second logo was a bit more exciting to the eye. I wanted to go for a cursive font to reflect the brand (everything will be handmade). Myself and the client really liked this one as it was still clear and readable but still original. I also added two elements behind the text, a fountain pen and a feather. The client really liked the idea of implementing a feather into the branding and matched with the pen I thought it made a really nice combination. To finish this off, I added some leaved and small flower buds in the background. The word enchanting makes you think of a secret forest or garden so I wanted to tap into that thought process.
After viewing the first two logos, the client provided their feedback. They liked the simplicity of the first one but the text, pen and feather elements to the second. They also likes the green from the leaves and thought it made the pen/feather elements pop. I then put together the third, and final, logo design. The company is currently finalising their brand and when it launches, this logo will be used on their website, social platforms, packaging and labels.
